These stories are about Change Your Mind SuperSleep® pioneers - men and women who worked with me between 1986 and 1989 while I was learning how to repattern the mind. (The names have been changed; the stories are factual.)
The clients told me what they wanted, and together, we wrote a script which they recorded themselves. We got some surprising and unexpected results, and I learned from each of them.
I appreciate the adventurous spirit of each person who experimented with me while I was discovering and developing the scripting formulas. Without them, this program would not have developed.

Roger tried SuperSleep® because he was always hitting his head.
He felt like a bumbler. He couldn't remember when it all started, but he said it felt like forever. Under self hypnosis, Roger saw himself in a car wreck seven years before, crashing into the windshield. His wife came to the emergency room, looked down at this glass-encrusted head and said, "That's just like Roger. He always hits his head."
Evidently, in his state of shock, her comment served as a hypnotic command which started him hitting his head. We wrote his script to stop hitting his head and included some general statements like "My head is now completely healed."
When I saw him ten days later, his head had fresh marks on it, but he insisted he hadn't hit his head since listening to the tape. I was wondering if the tape had tricked him into believing he wasn't hitting his head when he actually was.
Then he told me the reason for the marks on his head: particles of glass had been working their way out the top of his head for a week. His doctor said it was glass from his accident seven years before, and there was no medical explanation why it was happening now. Roger wondered if the tape could have anything to do with it. Once I recovered from my surprise, I told him what I have told hundreds of people since then: "I don't know, but anything is possible."
From Roger, I learned anything IS possible.
Joan tried SuperSleep® to lose weight.
We created a script one afternoon, including eating slowly, chewing thoroughly, and enjoying each meal as a banquet. She listened to her tape one night, and the next day, as she was hurriedly fixing a low calorie frozen dinner for quick eating, something told her to set the table, eat slowly, and enjoy it. Though she was in a hurry, she ate her meal in a leisurely and enjoyable way. I had told her the tapes took three days to work, but she had only listened to her tape once.
From Joan, I learned the system really belongs to the person using it and not to me. I learned not to predict what would happen or how long a process might take, but rather to let my clients teach me what worked and in what amount of time. I also learned how fast this program can work.
Greg tried SuperSleep® to develop better social skills.
He traveled weekly and wanted to meet people more easily. He was quiet and shy and sat scrunched down in his seat, never making eye contact as we worked. We wrote an assertiveness script, including affirmations about meeting people easily, being interesting, and being a good conversationalist.
A month later, when we met to discuss his next script, he sat erect and spoke clearly and directly, making eye contact the entire time. He told me of his displeasure about the script we had written, because he had never needed those things. He had always been an interesting man and a good conversationalist. What he needed was self esteem.
From Greg, I learned how totally our self images and actions can change with no conscious recall of what we were before, and how quickly and easily that can happen.
Kevin tried SuperSleep® for his cerebral palsy (CP).
He was convinced the tapes would cure him; I wasn't. We wrote a physiological script and added a clearing script for CP. I added "I am at peace with CP, I embrace CP." He became angry just hearing the words and didn't want to say them, much less record them, but he did.
When he started sleeping to the tape, he had two days of intense anger. He called me each morning and reported, "Doc, I'm chewing nails and just waiting for someone to come by so I can pick a fight."
Within three days, the changes started. He had a soft drink addiction and kept two refrigerators fully stocked with cases of cokes. He sold one of the refrigerators and began maintaining a normal week long supply of soft drinks.
His physical appearance improved, and he transferred to a new location with his job. His CP symptoms weren't changing, but he was doing well and had begun to see himself talking to large groups of people, perhaps as a national speaker.
From Kevin, I learned that reversing the physical symptoms may not be as important as having the courage to try. While he didn't get what he wanted - a miracle healing - he did get purpose and self esteem.
Linda tried SuperSleep® for stress management during her chemotherapy.
She had undergone surgery to remove a cancerous ovary and was in chemo treatments every ten days. She was a doctor herself and didn't really believe in the program, but she was desperate and willing to try anything. Her chemotherapy was debilitating. She had several days of illness after each treatment, about one or two days of ease, and then several days of anxiety before the next treatment. Because of that pattern, she was unable to work, and her clinic was facing severe financial trouble.
We wrote a clearing script for chemotherapy and added affirmations like "I am at peace with my chemotherapy. I flow with my chemotherapy treatments. My body handles chemotherapy treatments in peace." She was losing her hair, so we added "My hair is thick and luxurious, etc."
She recorded her tape and called me back after one night of listening to report it worked. She told me she had tried very hard to work up anxiety about her next chemo treatment, telling herself how terrible it would be, but she didn't generate any stress. She was surprised by the success of the tape, and I was touched by her openness. She continued to lose her hair, however, until the chemo treatments stopped. The last time I saw here, she was happy, healthy, and busy in her clinic.
From Linda, I learned the program works for stress reduction (whether or not you believe in it).
